Adding Folders to Your SEO Content Management System

The contents tab on the admin toolbar in the SEO Content Management System will show you the entire content list of the folder you are working in. This is the root folder, shown here. As you can see, each of the primary content sections is represented as a folder. Individual files and pages are shown as well, for example the homepage of the website and even the robots.txt file. This shows the item size, last modified date, state and you can reorder the contents using the arrows in the right column and this will reorder the items in the CMS.

You can open a folder from the folder contents view simply by clicking the item. This will deliver the same view, so in this example we have opened up the root folder and clicked on the CMS folder item and are looking at the contents. During this demonstration, the only page in this folder is the CMS website section index page.

While working in any folder in the SEO Content Management System, you can add items straight from the toolbar. Whenever you utilize this function, you are adding an item to the folder you are working in. So if you wanted to add an image to your /images/ folder, you would start this procedure from that folder. In this example, I am adding a folder to the CMS website section. I click add item in the toolbar and select the type of item I want to create, in this case, its another folder.

The only required field to add a folder is a title. There is a description field, however it is optional. Name your folder and save the value. Its that easy. I named this folder "Functions" to hold a page illustrating the primary functions of managing your website using the SEO Content Management System.

I want to publish this folder so that the CMS will automatically include it in the system components, such as website sitemaps, Google XML sitemap and local navigation. Again, I have the item open from the contents view and using the CMS toolbar, I access the "state" menu and select publish. This will change the state and give you confirmation upon success.
